David Jamieson (Electronic Warfare Business Manager), Ian Proudlock (Head of IT) and Graham Hillman (Technician) have provided over 80 years of combined service to the specialist defence and surveillance company.

The three were awarded gifts including a flat screen TV, digital SLR camera and computer equipment as a mark of appreciation from the Team Valley based firm.

Petards can trace its roots back to 1951 when young graduate Hebert Loebl, a student at King's College, Newcastle (now Newcastle University) met Robert Joyce, a fellow graduate in electrical engineering and the son of an unemployed Jarrow shipyard worker.

Together, Joyce and Loebl started their first company, specialising in electronics and scientific instruments, under a railway arch in Newcastle with £200 worth of capital.

Today the company employs over 100 people and supplies advanced security equipment to police forces, defence organisations and transport companies as far afield as New Zealand and the United Arab Emirates.

The longest serving of the three, David Jamieson, who has almost 28 years of service commented on his time at the company, "The Company has been through several significant changes over the years and continues to grow from strength to strength. I'm pleased and proud to have been a part of the development of the Company, and in particular the Defence Business, over these years and I guess I'm living proof that time flies when you're having fun."

Petards Group Chief Executive Bill Conn said: "In today's world, it is very rare that employees stay with one company for such a long time. David, Ian and Graham have provided Petards and Joyce-Loebl with dedicated service for over 25 years each and every one offers their thanks and appreciation"
